Bridging the Gap to
Understanding Today's Korean

The Journey of KONOGRAM :

Beginning with Free Korean Classes

KONOGRAM started with a simple goal: to help people around the world who needed Korean language learning content. Since 2022, we've connected with over 120,000 Korean learners from all corners of the globe. Some fell in love with K-dramas, movies, and music and decided to learn Korean.

Others were curious about Korean culture, wanted to date or marry a Korean, or even planned to work or move to Korea. Everyone had different reasons, but they all shared the same passion for understanding Korea more deeply through the language.

To support their passion,

we brainstormed countless ways to meet the needs of these diverse learners. But finding the right approach wasn't easy.

That's when we took our first step on this journey by launching free Korean language classes.

In 2023,

We began offering these classes to students
from the U.S., U.K., France, Canada, China, Switzerland, and other countries who came to study in Korea. These classes laid the foundation for what KONOGRAM is today.

The Reality for Korean Learners

Language Without Culture Is Only Half the Story

In our first class, we had a Canadian student who had studied Korean in the U.K. for two years before coming to Korea for his studies.

Despite his efforts in learning Korean in the U.K., he felt lost when he arrived in Korea. The gap between the Korean he learned from books and the Korean spoken in everyday life was much bigger than he expected, and adapting to Korean culture and daily life was far from easy.

As time went on, more and more students joined our classes, and many of them shared similar struggles. They often talked about the difficulties they had with Korean expressions that weren't in the textbooks and the cultural differences they encountered.

It wasn't just the students.
Foreigners who were already living in Korea for work, marriage, or other reasons and joined our Korean classes shared similar stories. Every time we heard about someone struggling on their first day because they didn't know how to properly dispose of garbage in Korea, we could really feel the challenges they faced.

These experiences made our direction at KONOGRAM clear. From basic everyday information to cultural differences, their stories guided us on where to go next. We realized that language without culture is incomplete.

KONOGRAM's Mission :

Bridging the Gap to Understanding Today's Korean

KONOGRAM is not just about teaching Korean; our goal is to help learners truly understand and adapt to life in Korea. We aim to provide Korean learners with practical and up-to-date information about Korean culture and daily life, so they can integrate seamlessly into Korean society.

There are already many resources available for learning Korean, and you can easily find information on YouTube. However, KONOGRAM takes it a step further. We focus on delivering real, vibrant insights into Korean culture and daily life—things you can't easily find in books or videos—and on connecting this knowledge with relevant Korean language learning.

By doing so,

KONOGRAM helps those learning Korean grasp the cultural context of the language, making it easier for them to adapt to life in Korea. We also ensure that the knowledge gained online can be effectively applied offline, providing information that allows learners to experience the living language and culture used by Koreans today.

Ultimately, KONOGRAM's mission is to be a bridge for those who struggle with the differences in language and culture, helping them to truly understand and love Korea.Through our comprehensive services focused on adapting to Korean life and cultural experiences, we aim to support more people in enjoying Korea to the fullest.
